Ever since I saw this photo on Pinterest, I've wanted a belt with a metallic plate
(hmm, that sounds weird).

(apparently I pinned this image without going through a website and cannot find the source - if anyone knows it, please let me know!)

I first ordered this one from Zara (no longer available), but decided that it was too narrow.

Last week, I walked into H&M to return this shirt. I had bought it along with a classic white blouse. The white blouse was on my wish list (and I've already worn it multiple times), but this top was just an impulse buy. Here was my thought process: the red trim at the neckline gives it more interest than just a plain black top, it'll be cool for wearing during the summer, and it's only $10. Especially after my post about fast fashion, I recognized that these were not good reasons for a purchase. I have plenty of black tops and a few red necklaces that would give me a similar look.

I swear, I was trying not to let anything in the store catch my eye as I walked to the counter to make my return, but there it was, the metallic belt I'd been looking for!

I'm excited to have something to spice up my rotation of black. I'll probably copy the look above to start with, but here are some other inspirations:
