what is this feeling?

what is this feeling?

I'm having an odd feeling this spring. The feeling is that I don't really need any new clothes. Gasp. Two years ago I was developing this business and blog and felt some pressure to step up my game, last year I was starved for new things after pregnancy, but this year, I think I'm good. Dresses, check. Lightweight tops, check. Jeans that fit, check. Three pairs of shorts - probably three too many since I rarely wear them. Feels nice.

As usual, when the sun comes out, I add some color to my customary neutrals. But don't worry, only in my jewelry - I mean, I'm still me.

Nothing new to see here - Zara necklace purchased last spring (here on ebay), COS top seen here, Twiggy from James Jeans and Sam Edelman boots. Plus some spring wind.

My old favorite striped trench from Ann Taylor LOFT (here's one on ebay!), old Old Navy flared jeans (yes, they're coming back, but skinnies aren't going anywhere), Forever 21 top, Franco Sarto boots. The necklace is from this etsy shop, and it's wooden beads on a knit cord, so it's pretty childproof.

Have a great spring weekend!

dressing for the heat

dressing for the heat

Summer really is the hardest season to dress for. In order to stay cool, the less clothing, the better, and the less close to your body, the better. The fewer the pieces, the more impact they each have.  Of course, dresses are always the simplest of simple outfits and shorts are easy. But what if you're not a fan of wearing shorts, like me? Or if you'd like an alternative to dresses?

Here's my formula for those alternatives: a sleeveless top that floats away from the body + narrow cropped pants + a few great accessories.

How cute is this top ($19.99) from Target?

Bauble Bar has great, trendy, affordable jewelry, like these earrings ($26) .

I've added this Splendid tank ($60) to my wish list

What do you guys think? How do you deal with the heat?

confession: i'm a clutch hoarder

confession: i'm a clutch hoarder

It's time that I came clean - I have an addiction to clutches. Even though I rarely use them, I can't stop buying them. I know, I know, it goes against all my rules. I call it "collecting". Last Sunday, I found myself with some free time and decided that I needed to look at handmade handbags on Etsy. After a frenzy of pinning to my wish list board on Pinterest, I finally came to and realized that I do not need any more clutches!  Taking these photos brought me to my senses.

All thrifted.

All thrifted, except for the snakeskin chevron, which is vintage via Etsy.

From left: vintage Carlos Falchi - thrifted, very old from Old Navy, thrifted (actually a jewelry bag), Forever 21, gift from husband via Etsy, gift from husband via Etsy.

And now you know.

what i actually wore: spring is here!

what i actually wore: spring is here!

Over the weekend, we finally had some much needed sunshine. I was inspired to inject some color into my usual black for a night out.

My dress is from Forever 21, my necklace is a gift from my husband via Etsy, and my shoes are Kensie via Century 21 (lots of 21's!).

The shoes have a suprise hit of color from behind.

I had a great weekend - a friend was in town visiting, so lots of good food - Taste on Saturday night and Pasteria Sunday night. It was my first time at Pasteria and it was awesome, everyone's dish was delicious.

Happy Spring!
