trench coat weather

trench coat weather

Trench coat weather is my favorite weather. It's so easy, because I can wear something super simple underneath...

Good lord, look at that belly!

...and throw the jacket on top and feel completely put-together.

A little trick if you'd like to wear your trench coat open but still want a defined shape - gather it a little with the belt and tie it behind you:

Of course, tying in front always look good too.

I got this trench at Ann Taylor LOFT last season (worn here pre-pregnancy) and had to hunt it down since it was sold out online - I'm glad I did. I'm also wearing my trusty thrifted Indigo Blue maternity jeans, an H&M tee found at Avalon Exchange, and thrifted Old Navy flats. I carried the bag I've been carrying all winter, the Linea Pelle Dylan. It was my anniversary gift from my husband (don't worry, I used a promo code and got 20% off) and it's turned out to be pretty much perfect. It goes with everything, can be casual or worn to a fancy restaurant, and has room for all the crap I regularly stuff it with.

What's your favorite weather to dress for?

I've already blogged about several pieces that were favorites before, during, and I'm sure, after pregnancy. Here's another. This is a Vince sweater that I found at Nordstrom Rack at the beginning of the fall (see August budget here) and knew would get a lot of use.

This was just an easy, comfy outfit. If I mentioned I was pregnant to someone I didn't know while wearing this sweater, they expressed surprise. Not a bad thing to go incognito sometimes.

So, my only issue with this sweater is that it's pilling a little bit, even though it's great quality. I tried this sweater comb, but it didn't really work (sorry, Dana!). Has anyone had good luck with electric sweater shavers and want to recommend a specific one?

a winter respite

a winter respite

I'm not getting my hopes up that it will last, but the recent break from the cold has been much appreciated. A simple walk around the neighborhood feels like the most incredible, amazing experience in contrast to what came before.

I was finally able to get outside to take some photos! Last weekend, I flew to Atlanta to hang out with both of my sisters (travel post coming soon) and I picked up this necklace at Zara. I'm in love with it - just the thing to pair with an otherwise simple outfit.

My simple outfit consisted of the Diane von Furstenberg Hanky blouse that I recently snagged on eBay, my maternity jeans, and my well-worn Steve Madden Intyce boots.

Bruiser even got in on the action.

Just so amazing to feel fresh air without 17 layers in between said air and my skin. That is all.
