top three from the 2015 met gala

top three from the 2015 met gala

The Oscars of the fashion world happened last night, the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. These are my favorite looks:

Keri Russell in Altuzarra (I'm obsessed with her and have been since Felicity, seriously need to do a style icon post on her), Georgia May Jagger in Gucci, and Bee Shaffer (Anna Wintour's daughter) in Alexander McQueen.

Fastest round up ever. Absolute top faves:

These three nailed it: Margot Robbie in Gucci, Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren,  and Kate Mara in J. Mendel

Of course there were others I liked: Emma Roberts, Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale...but these are the best.

There were lots of pregnant ladies there too, but only one look I really liked.

Elsa Pataky in Paule Ka - adorable! Here are the other preggies:

I particularly hate Kerry Washington's look - doesn't it look like what an old fashioned department store would design for a formal maternity gown?

Thoughts?

quick n'dirty: emmy's best and worst

quick n'dirty: emmy's best and worst

Super fast - here are the looks I hated:

Lena Dunham in Prada - someone please inform her that you can be quirky and still cute.

Zosia Mamet in Honor - I'm so distracted by the tanning bed goggles across her bust, I can't find anything else to say.

Kiernan Shipka in Delpozo - Kiernan Shipka is widely regarded as a budding fashionista who always nails it on the red carpet, and while this look is nicely age appropriate, and is maybe a reference to the Mad Men era, it's just a little too psychedelic for me.

Connie Britton in Naeem Khan - medieval festival meets red carpet.

Kerry Washington in Marchesa - this one hurts, since I'm a fan and since she's talked honestly in recent interviews about how she has studied and worked on her red carpet image. I'm sure most people will love this, I just think it's a bit frou-frou.

No surprises here, all clean lines and sleek fits: Taylor Schilling in Thakoon, Padma Lakshmi in KaufmanFranco, Kate Mara in J. Mendel, Mindy Kaling in Georges Chakra, and Elizabeth Moss in Andrew Gn.
